This month in the spirit of giving our goal is to provide each child currently housed by the Broward Partnership for the Homeless with a care package containing the essentials of daily living.

Introducing BPHI:

Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc. (BPHI) is a private-public
partnership committed to the provision of quality services and advocacy for
homeless people that promotes self-sufficiency and independence as well as
supports their dignity and self worth in our community's efforts to reduce
homelessness. Founded in 1997 in response to the burgeoning number of
homeless in Broward County, Florida, BPHI, in concert with the Broward County
Homeless Initiative Partnership Board, representing the County Commissioners,
was charged with the task of raising private funding for a new multi-service
emergency shelter, overseeing the construction of the facility, and
subsequently designing, implementing and operating its programs to provide comprehensive
services to assist the homeless. Construction of the Broward County Central
Homeless Assistance Center/Huizenga Family Campus (Center), a 57,000 square
foot, 200 bed, residential emergency shelter, was completed in January 1999 and
opened its doors to its first Residents on February 1, 1999. Since that date,
over 12,000 men, women and families have received assistance at the Center.
Funding for BPHI, a 501 C(3) non-profit
organization, is provided by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners,
the Florida Department of Children & Families, the North Broward Hospital
District, the Broward County School Board, the United Way of Broward County and
public grants and private contributions from individuals, corporations, foundation,
local businesses, civic associations and faith based organizations.
